Richards Cemetery

“The old cypress log house is one of the oldest historical landmarks in Crittenden County.”

Between the “dog-trot” or breeze way of the Richards Home place, you can barely see the family cemetery in the distance. Though the house is in a poor state I have been told that the current land owner is trying to restore the home to it’s original condition, time permitting. Steel rods or cables have already been placed to keep the structure from caving in or falling apart.
(My great-great grandmother was Rhoda Richards who married Sterling Hood)

The carved log represents his membership in “Woodmen of the World”. The faint carved seal can be seen in the second photo. The monument is leaning against it’s base.

At the top of the monument, a circular emblem representing his membership in “Woodmen of the World”. These brothers died within 9 days of each other due to complications from pneumonia.
